There are ten days from 1 Tishrei (Rosh HaShannah) through 10 Tishrei, which is the Feast of Yom Kippur. These ten days are called the Days of Awe  (Yamin Norai’m). These are the High Holy Days that call for prayer, self-examination, and repentance. Thus why these 10 days are also called Aseret Y’mei Nora’im , the Ten Days of Repentance. Another name is the Ten Days of Penitence (Aseret Yemei Teshuvah).

These ten days are also called Asert Yemei Teshuvah or a time of introspection, renewal of commitment, and intensified prayers. It is a time to inspect ourselves (our soul/spirit). Are we aligned with God’s Word? If not, then it is a time to recommit ourselves to the Lord.

It is a time to make an effort to ask forgiveness from anyone whom we may have hurt or offended. It is also a great time to forgive those who hurt or offend us.

Cheshbon Harefesh: taking an account of the soul. That means we engage in honest self-examination about our behavior and reflect on the past year. When we confess the truth about ourselves, we find healing…

James 1:23 For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man observing his natural face in a mirror; 24 for he observes himself, goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was.

We begin by asking God for courage and strength, let go of fear from discovering who we really are.

Confess those things to God that don’t line up with His Word. And we ask for mechilah, which is forgiveness
